The Czech Gathering of Logicians is an annual event that brings together researchers in all areas of logic, primarily - though not exclusively - based in Czech Republic. This year holds special significance, as the Gathering is being held jointly with Beauty of Logic, a special conference series organized to honor the legacy of Professor Petr Hájek.
On Wednesday, June 24, the Czech Academy of Sciences recognized the outstanding achievements of young researchers. Among this year’s 23 recipients of the prestigious Otto Wichterle Award for promising scientists under the age of 35 are two representatives from our institute: mathematical statistician Adéla Hladká and theoretical computer scientist Samuel Braunfeld.
ICS, together with the Institute of Philosophy of the CAS and the Faculty of Arts of Charles University co-organised collocated conferences Advances in Modal Logic (AiML) 2024 and Relational Methods in Computer Science (RAMiCS) 2024 , which took place on August 19-23, 2024 and August 19-22 2024, respectively.
Ústav informatiky AV ČR se zúčastnil s partnery Centra Karla Čapka (Filosofickým ústavem AV, Ústavem státu a práva AV a Přírodovědeckou fakultou UK) Veletrhu vědy 2019.
The area in front of the Institute of Computer Science has gained a new, eye-catching feature. On Thursday, July 23, 2026, we unveiled a new art and educational installation dedicated to the fundamental block of the entire digital world: the binary number system. Our exhibit is also part of a new educational trail being built between the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague 8.
The IMPS 2024 conference was hosted by the ICS CAS, in partnership with the Prague University of Economics and Business, Faculty of Education of the Charles University, and the Psychometric Society. The conference took place at the Prague University of Economics and Business on July 16-19, 2024.
Res. Prof. Jiří Šíma from the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ICS CAS) has been awarded the Honorary Certificate of the President of the Czech Science Foundation (GACR) for the outstanding outcomes of the project AppNeCo: Approximate Neurocomputing.
Computer science is not just about computers. At the stand of the Institute of Computer Science, you can explore what can be revealed from data, how our attention works, and how simple rules give rise to unexpected complexity. Can something complex and beautiful emerge from a few simple rules? Come and find out!
The Institute of Computer Science is pleased to welcome a prestigious new research project funded by the European Union. Wolfgang Poiger, Ph.D. will pursue his ERA Fellowship project GLOWS at the Institute, exploring new frontiers in theoretical computer science.
This year, three distinguished young scientists in the field of theoretical computer science - Wesley Fussner , Samuel Braunfeld , and Adam Přenosil - will pursue their JUNIOR STAR projects at the Institute of Computer Science. The projects will enable them to establish their own research teams and explore new frontiers in scientific research.
The Institute of Computer Science organized an external meeting of its employees 1-3 September, 2021 at Jizerka.
